Mission

The mission of the Abstinence Program is to educate and motivate young people to postpone sexual activity until marriage.   

We won’t be satisfied until every teen in Central Minnesota has heard the message that abstinence until marriage is their healthiest choice.

Goals

Programming:

Develop age-specific programs:   

Elementary – 5th and 6th grade

Junior High – 7th and 8th grade

High School – 9th and 10th grade, 11th and 12th grade

College group program

Develop a drama team and/or “human video” component

Teach week-long abstinence courses in schools

Expand service to tri-state area

Create energetic 9-12 week after school program in both Jr and Sr high schools.

Services:

Develop an adult-managed support group for teens within schools and churches

Expand the current library/resource collection and develop a system for lending materials to teachers, parents, teens, and youth leaders

Make supportive products available to parents and teens: chastity rings, cards, etc.

Develop a program for helping other PRC's start abstinence programs in their area

Enhance community awareness by offering abstinence-related workshops

Activities:

Sponsor a “Purity Day”

Sponsor father/daughter dance, mother/son activities

Fundraising / Promotion:

Explore a wide range of fundraising options

Apply for a variety of grants and government funding

Expand the mailing list

Develop a professional promotional video

Publish regular newsletters

Prepare a booth or tabletop promotional display to bring to events

Involve teens in an advertising blitz (radio, ads, newspaper articles, letters to the editor, billboards)

Explore opportunities to work with community agencies and other organizations that might complement/cooperate with our program.
