Program Outline 

 

Central MN Freedom Advocates Program (Grades 7-12) 

This is the original A-Team program that motivates teens to choose sexual abstinence until marriage as the best lifestyle for empowering them to achieve success and reach their dreams and goals. A program based on the following outline requires at least 60 minutes; otherwise, portions of the presentation will be cut.

 

Relational Building

 

Presenter spends this time building the bridge between students and speakers with stories and conversation.

Valuable Students are told they are valuable individuals, worth staying pure and saving themselves for their future spouse. 

 

Pregnancy –Facts

 

What are your options if you get pregnant? Marriage, Single Parenting, Adoption, Abortion? –No Easy solution. What is the only way to make sure you don’t face a pregnancy? Abstinence=Freedom.

 

STD

 

8,000-12,000 teens get an STD every day in the U.S.

Discussion of Chlamydia, Herpes, AIDS, and Human Papillomavirus Virus.

This portion discusses how STDs can be asymptomatic –no signs, no symptoms, but contagious.

STDs can be transmitted through oral sex.

Using Contraceptives is gambling with your life, and your dreams and goals.

Two people faithful to each other for a lifetime never have to worry about STDs.

Abstinence=Freedom 

 

Emotional Scars

Psychologists say having sex is the most intimate form of bonding.

It’s got to hurt when you break up, and it could leave you with a hard and cold heart.

Sexual abuse --  it was not your fault. You didn’t give the gift of virginity away.

 

Setting Boundaries/ Dream and Goal Setting

 

Stop signs are designed for protection.

As you began to date, you will need to set boundaries and always be prepared to stop

Make decisions when you’re cool in the head.

Forgive yourself if you have made mistakes in your life, whether sexual or other.

You are 50% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. Discussion of where you want to be in 10 years from now, how do you want your life to look.

 

Ladder of Sexual Progression

 

We use a ladder to demonstrate how sexual intimacy can intensify.

This demonstration provides a  visual aid to help audience understand where to set their standards.

 

 The Pressures of Drugs, Alcohol

 

The number one pressure on teens to have sex is drug and alcohol use.

Alcohol is the most used drug in date rapes.

Alcohol suppresses or eliminates the self-control needed to live a sexually abstinent lifestyle.

 

It’s Never too Late to Change

 

We have all made mistakes in our lives, and we all have the opportunity to make better and healthier decisions for ourselves from now on. Today is that day!

 

Rose Demonstration

 

Presenter uses this visual illustration to help audience see a glimpse of their future: Standing at the alter facing spouse, do you want to give him or her all of you (the full rose) or are you going to give yourself away before then—a little at a time?

 

Evaluation

A voluntary, anonymous survey is offered at the conclusion.

CMFA tabulates the surveys and sends a report to the facilitator of the survey results and the comments from the students.
